What is Pre-painted Metal?
Pre-painted metal is a metal on which a material such as paint has been applied in order to form a protective film. This technique is known as the coil coating process and it is a continuous process.
Coils of metal (steel or aluminum are the most commonly used substrates) are usually used for this process. First, both the top and bottom surfaces are cleaned and then chemically treated. After that, the coils are primed and/or painted and finally cured in an oven.
The type of coating that is used for pre-painted metal is varied, as it depends on the specific desired durability, performance and aesthetic requirements. Therefore, different coatings are developed in order to meet these requirements.
